Set in a fictional 19th Century Oxford, a group of talented linguists are inducted into the College, specifically to study translation at Babel, the centre of magic-silver-words-ing. Babel has a monopoly on silver and translation skills which allows it to dominate and take advantage of the world. But a mysterious organisation recruits the young heroes, shows them the truth, and leads a great rebellion.

Great story, all about the evils of colonialism really.
