Pretty conventional but non-the-less enjoyable space adventure that hints at more expansive ideas to come in subsequent Culture novels. Interesting that the Culture is the antagonist in this book.

Even after reading the Amazon synopsis I can't recall anything. I'd better read it again sometime... Anyway, I'm sure it was worth an 8. Plus I must have read this one years ago.
